Acceptance Denied

Amber,

The Admissions Committee has reviwed your application for admission to Mercy School of Nursing.  I regret to inform you that the committee did not recommend acceptance.  Unfortunately, your calculated admission score fell below the standard set by the committee.  We hope you will continue to explore other options apart from Mercy School of Nursing.  Good luck.

Sincerely,

Director of Student Services - Admissions

This is for my upper level/level II nursing classes and clinical work.

I submitted my application with a "proficient" TEAS exam score of 74 - nearly 15 points above the national average, "A" and "B" in all required classes, all general education classes completed or in progress, a 4.0 high school GPA, a 3.87 college GPA, and a 24 on the ACT.

Disappointed doesn't even begin to come close.

So, here we go again.  Pick up the pieces and start over again.  Will start researching where to apply to next once I process being denied.  Yet another roadblock.  Yet another change in plans.  Yet another delay.

It's all worth it in the end.  There's a bigger and better plan.  It just wasn't the right school or the right time.

I'm sorry girl! I hope that you can figure something out soon. I know it is hard, but hold your head high and stay strong! God has a different plan in store for you..and it is better in his book!

Do you know what the "calculated score" needed to be?

If limited space is a problem, are there programs with a waiting list?

Good luck!

APPEAL!!!!
Go to the admissions officer and ask them for a personalized run down as to why they didn't accept you. (I've never read any of your blog and stumbled across it so.......I read the first page and you need to be the squeaky wheel)!!
I'm a CNM that worked really hard to get into nursing school in 1997.
I wish I had more guts to go in person to see what the institution had to say face-to-face.
JUST DO IT!!

Hi Amber,
I'm a CPM in your position- going back to school to become a CNM and taking prereqs. I agree with the pp. Perhaps it is just a matter of taking over one class or adding an extra curricular. You never know if you don't ask. I am so sorry for your disappointment, but keep your head up! It is notoriously difficult to get into nursing school. It will happen!!!
